Pilates Info!
Joseph Pilates first devised the Pure Pilates exercises 100 years ago. Since then, the method has been adapted to appreciate that our modern way of life leads to different stresses on our bodies, however the basic Pilates principles still remain the same i.e. focusing on strengthening the bodys' “core” muscles, (abdominals & back). Today Pilates training has become one of the most effective ways to recover from sports injuries and back problems and has been used extensively in Australia and New Zealand by sports therapists and over the last 20 years it has become a major health and fitness regime in Britain. The basic exercises are ideal for rehabilitation from injury, while the advanced exercises are challenging even for the elite athlete. This allows the participant to take their Pilates exercise to whichever level is appropriate. It will release overworked muscles, balance the entire body and strengthen joints and overstressed areas. It can also sculpt your muscles, define your shape and give your body a complete overhaul.
Gilly Green has been teaching Pilates for the past 22 years, & originally trained in 2000 with Michael King at the Pilates Institute in London. She is currently linked with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy & Pilates Institute) and Balanced Body Pilates and attends yearly conferences to network and update on any new research.
Gilly says, "Pilates is an exercise regime which enhances your body to perform better! Whether you enjoy running, golf, surfing, cycling or simply prefer gardening, Pilates gives you the inner strength and body control to continue for longer in duration and longer in life.
What more could you wish for ? ".
For your Pilates Classes wear loose, comfortable clothing, bring a towel and exercise mat. Training shoes are not required as we work in bare feet or socks.
Beginner Pilates Courses are for those people who are new to Pure Pilates. This is the most important stage of Pilates as all the basic principles are covered thoroughly. The core muscles are strengthened, (Underwear Muscles), the body is stretched and the“ well being” feeling kicks in from the very first session.
Intermediate/Advanced Pilates Courses
Healthier Backs
Power Pilates
Sports Pilates
Super Tone Pilates

It is important to work at a level that is appropriate for you and to attend a class that suits your ability and aspirations.
